“I’ve had lower back and leg pain for over 12 years. I had a total of three spine surgeries, the first being in 2000. Despite my surgeries I continued having back and leg pain. I had numerous injections in my back previous to presenting to IPPMC which did not offer me significant relief. I underwent a spinal cord stimulator trial that worked great for me and I want on to have the permanent placement. I am 90% better. I could not walk through Wal-Mart or K-Mart previous to my treatment and now I can walk much better, I can go up and down stairs and do laundry. “I have been dealing with chronic lower back and joint pain over five years. I was told that I need spine surgery and underwent a laminectomy at L4-5 in 2012 for back and leg pain which helped me for a while. I started having significant knee and hip pain. “The reason we come to IPPMC is because this clinic is not about just doing surgery. They look into what is causing the pain and treat it. They reviewed my case and gave me treatment options. My goal is to prevent spine surgery. I have already had two spine surgeries which helped for a little while. I have had just as much benefit from the treatments at IPPMC as I have had with two spine surgeries and now the same surgeons want to fuse multilevels of my spine and at 35 that is hard to swallow. The big issue is that every time I have surgery I am out of work for six months and it cleans out my savings and I have two kids getting ready for college. I have to figure out what is best for me and not the surgeon. The first time I had interventional treatment with Dr. Kowalkowski I had relief for 18 months. “I’ve had left knee pain for three years. I tried a lot of different treatments including narcotics, I have seen approximately four different doctors for treatment options, and nothing has worked. I presented to IPPMC rather skeptical because of my past experiences with the pain. I thought that they would tell me that it was all in my head. After one visit I can say that I can’t believe most of my pain is gone. The pain had been effecting my life miserably. I couldn’t walk around or do nothing. It’s way better. “I had two right sided hernia surgeries three years ago. After the last surgery I had severe pain right in my groin and right leg. The pain radiated down my leg into my hip. I could not walk. I had a miserable winter with this pain. My husband had to do all the household work and I was sitting most of the time to relieve my pain. I saw approximately four doctors for my pain and they did not help. One doctor even thought I had a broken femur. After MRIs and expensive workups I still had the pain. "I’ve had back problems for many-many years. It started when I was a Cement mason’s helper throwing cement blocks on scaffolding six feet high, I was 18 years old and I had so much pain the next I could not get out of bed. Since that time exercise and activity would trigger my pain in my back. This pain has gone on for the last 65 years. I ultimately underwent an operation of my lower back approximately two years ago and I continued to have some pain after my surgery.
