“Six years ago I was involved in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in an injury to my right hand and shoulder. I went to orthopedics for surgery and I had a nerve block in the shoulder region for the surgery which I continued to have pain after the treatment. I was referred to pain management in Alexandria for three years. The anesthesiologist performed greater than 80 stellate ganglion blocks which really did not help. During this process they recommended a spinal cord stimulator and also I became addicted to morphine, Vicodin, and Percocet. Once I had my stimulator placed I am unable to sit in a chair comfortable because of the positioning or stand, it really has not helped my symptoms and I want it removed. The pain has significantly affected by my life; I lost my job, my family, my home and everything else. I called for two weeks to try to find a place that would help me. I eventually got in touch with IPPMC. I had underwent a consultation with Dr. K on my first visit. He recommended a different treatment plan. After one visit at IPPMC I felt 80% better. It was the first time in six years I’ve been able to leave my house for over a week and work. I put in 12 hours a day on my race car and I also go to college full-time. I can’t believe being here one time changed me that much. I am optimistic about my future.”
