“I was in a car accident in 2001 in which I fractured my neck and back. I had to wear a brace for three months. I have been dealing with pain since 2001. I lost my ability to walk far distances, driving a car for more than an hour, any type of physical activity effected me. In 2011 I had a motorcycle accident and broke my neck and upper back. I started a rehab program and I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. I was referred to a different pain clinic and all they did was inject me with multiple steroids. I felt like a pin cushion without relief. They ultimately labeled me as only wanting pain medications despite all they were offering is multiple injections. I explained that pain medications make me sick and that I didn’t want pain medications and wanted pain relief. She was told that after multiple procedures that there was nothing else they could do. They basically left me in pain. Ultimately I was referred to IPPMC. IPPMC really seemed to focus on my pain. They tied in mental health into this. All the doctors work as a team. I felt like I wasn’t coming in being labeled or judged. I feel IPPMC has addressed my pain rather than blew me off.”
