Our mother was hospitalized off and on for several years with chronic pain in her back and legs, in which her legs would spasm. She went from one orthopedic doctor to another. She tried steroid injections. It seemed to put a Band-Aid in her pain until she came to IPPMC. Since starting treatments including Botulinum Toxin Type A, she has been independent. She has discontinued taking OxyContin. She is living in assisted living and her quality of life is 100% better than what it was! We are thrilled

I have had back pain for the past two years. I have had countless procedures and seen at other pain clinics. IPPMC has great support, follow-ups, and constant care giving which makes my family feel so much better about my care. Compared to my other procedures my treatments with Dr. Kowalkowski worked! I have been able to work for fulltime for the first time in a year, in which own a truck repair business. I have not had to go the emergency room since my treatment at IPPMC. Previous to my treatments I had been transferred to the emergency room via ambulance 9 times within the last year.

I have had terrible headaches over the last seven years. On a scale of 1/10 my headaches were 10. It would keep me up all night with no sleep. Since I got treated at IPPMC, with a nerve block, my headaches have been gone for the first time in seven years.

I have had back pain for at least ten years. Over the last five years the back pain was so severe it would take me up to an hour to get out of bed on certain days. My primary doctor sent me to IPPMC. After my first visit I received a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Kowalkowski and I was given a plan and treated the same day, with much relief.

On the second visit, it was a bit scary for me because I had an injection in my back. Dr. Kowalkowski called me at that night at 7:30 PM which it was a great relief to be able to talk with the doctor about my concerns on the same day of my treatment. It was not expected.

I am now able to roll over in bed. I cannot remember the last time I was able to do that without pain. My activities of getting out of the car and stairs have greatly improved, and I no longer have pain with these activities. I appreciate the whole clinic and my care at IPPMC.

 

Leroy
Because of previous left sided cerebral infarct, this testimonial is being assisted by his wife and Leroy. Leroy has been in significant pain in the right side of his head, since undergoing a mole removal, for almost a year. His wife states he did not want to do anything. he was depressed and stayed in bed. After being treated at IPPMC it appears that he is a lot better now and he is able to go for his walks and he is able to drive without pain.

I broke my right ankle 30 years ago while snow skiing. I then had surgery 15 years ago to help regain movement of my ankle joint which I received increased range of motion, but developed excruciating pain. I tried other orthotics and pain medication and that was all that was prescribed for me. I was able to only walk a block over the last ten years. Since coming to IPPMC I am now able to walk 1-2 miles per day and I am also reporting decreased back pain.

I came to see Dr. Kowalkowski for my chronic TMJ pain that I have had for 15 years. On my initial evaluation he noticed an atypical mole on my right forearm which I followed up on and found out it was a malignant melanoma in which I had surgery. If I had not had this treated this would have been terminal. I have also had 50% improvement in my TMJ after my treatment.

I have been hurting for two years in what I thought was my lower back, I was evaluated by an anesthesiology pain doctor which all I received was multiple spinal injections, receiving more than one on the same day, in which it did not help. I still owe thousands of dollars in payments because of the expensive treatment.

During this time I became addicted to Percocet which I was taking up to 150 mg of Percocet a day. The anesthesiologist referred me to his colleague, a neurosurgeon, who offered me an extensive multilevel fusion for my scoliosis. I got tired of being on Percocet because I was talking care of my family and four kids and was seen by Interventional Pain and Physical Medicine.

The psychologist referred me to Dr. Kowalkowski and after one visit I underwent an extensive evaluation in which he told me that my pain was not coming from my lower back at all, but rather my piriformis in my buttock region compensating for my scoliosis. I did not think he was right after having been treated by multiple doctors and being prescribed high dose opiods. After my treatment with Dr. Kowalkowski for my symptoms, I can say I am 75% improved. I have been able to discontinue taking Percocet and he is helping me with me maintenance program.
I hope that I continue to feel this well.

I have been dealing with neck and shoulder pain since 1995, which affected my ability to drive my car, to sleep at night, and perform my general movements. I tried different things like physical therapy, pain medication, it was not until I had an MRI that I realized that I was dealing with a chronic problem in which there was no cure. I was referred to IPPMC to discuss my pain problems. I received a combination of interventional treatments with Dr. Kowalkowski. Eight months later it has been an amazing improvement. I am now able to turn my head when I back out of my driveway. I am also sleeping better.
